For almost half a year I’ve been planning this next trip. However with just one week to go actually the only thing planned is the first week of scuba diving.
This will be a spectacular week: I am going to do the Sardine Run. This spectacular event happens only once a year. Huge shoals of sardines will pass the coast of Kwazulu Natal, attracting all kinds of predators: different species of shark, dolphin and whale can make their appearance. Let’s hope for some good action!
Based upon the disclaimers I got before the trip I need to make some adjustments to my scuba gear:
“Do not bring any bright / luminous yellow, orange, green or silver dive equipment. The sharks can mistake this for a shoal of fish, we don’t need to excite them any more than they already will be”
So I will get myself a black mask, and hide the reflective yellow patches on my BCD!
Since the action will be fast and my underwater camera is not, I decided to get myself a GoPRO Hero action camera with headmount! Let’s hope it will get me some great underwater action footage!
